[7 pages of dialogue]

Anchored in Matthew 13:1-9 from the lectionary readings for 6 Pentecost 12 July 2020

Yerachmiel Tilles: Evening fell while the Baal Shem Tov was on a journey with a few of his disciples, so they stopped to spend the night in a village inn. The little building soon echoed to the revelry of a wedding party, but the Baal Shem Tov and his companions spent the night quietly in their room.[1]

Matthew 13:1 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea.

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz (6 July 20): The hour-long event on Sunday, held in the absence of an audience for the first time due to pandemic restrictions, was broadcast on local and regional TV stations and live-streamed on social media in what the organizers claimed was an effort to spread “unity and hope.” [2]

Josh Wilson: “Revolutionary” [https://youtu.be/6glQdaQUZ1U]

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz (5 July 20): Lebanon: Cultural Event Held in Ba’al Temple Complex Used as Hezbollah Capital

Wanda Alger (6 July 20): For my brothers and sisters who are disillusioned by the division and looking for peace, know that this time of separation and sanctification must take place before peace can reign. The Lord has been raising up leaders, including our President, who have been strategically prepared for this time of cleansing and uprooting. We must simply remember that this is not a war against our fellow man, but a war against the devil and his minions who will stop at nothing to absolutely destroy us if we do not rise up AS ONE to overturn their temporary reign of terror.[3]

Nate Johnston (3 July 20): So I need to be real, cos I’ve been in this wrestle too. Not just now but many times in my walk with God and especially since stepping into ministry. There are times that I don’t even realize it but subtly we can start to pay more attention to the fear of man than the fear of the Lord. When quarantine began social media became inundated with church services and people doing a billion online conferences, Facebook lives, but for me… I retreated. I wasn’t being rebellious I swear. My friend Aaron always says that If the world goes one way I’ll change direction and go the other…which is kinda true, but this wasn’t like that. My spirit man felt attacked. The prophetic movement was in division with one camp prophesying grace and mercy and the other judgment and doom. New breed voices started to rise up and unknown faces stepping into the light but it was soon squashed by those pandering to the religious spirit who were saying we were in “holy hush” season and needed to be purified and silent. Let me just say that a “reset” season isn’t the same as being silent and being purified and refined does not always mean being dormant. It means we are in a posture of deep surrender and recalibration but this doesn’t always mean being silent and going into hiding. (I know someone in biblical history who liked scaring people into caves and submission, but let’s not bring Jezebel into this one just yet)[4]

Joey LeTourneau (in “Incline Your Ear” 5 July 20): A great number of people moved and worked constantly, but never seemed to actually go anywhere. We were living in a simplified wilderness, but we walked, built, and pressed forward in a very modern mindset. Imagine a technologically sound caveman, if you will; this seemed to be a simplified society where very few people were content to be simple. But amidst the whirlwind of work, worship and play, the eye of a needle sat simply up from the ground as a gateway to this path of thread….

Kris Vallotton (03 July 20): I propose one reason why Believers aren’t the visionaries and the catalysts they were designed to be is because religion has taken the place of revelation. All too often, the divine wisdom we get from God becomes imprisoned in our hearts, guarded by the spirit of religion and taunted by the fear of man. The triumphant call on us to rise and shine with ageless wisdom and supernatural power ultimately wastes away in the confines of mediocrity. This disconcerting demise has reduced those who are designed to be the most brilliant people on the planet to an echo rather than a voice.

Brat: And I propose that the echo is because of boots like this on our necks that is causing our demise.  If you cared as much as you professed, you’d nurture the network of prophetic artists, rather than create more sweatboxes to keep us with your cavemen and their canaries under your control.

Yerachmiel Tilles: They did not understand his meaning, of course, but neither did they ask him to explain himself.

Nate Johnston (3 July 20): I suddenly felt the breath of God over my shoulders like the Lord overshadowing me and releasing life and his very breath into my being and then the sound came. It was the loudest roar I have heard coming from all directions but again it was over me, overshadowing me, roaring over me and into my being. I know now that this was Jesus, the lion of the Tribe of Judah, like it is spoken about in Revelation 5:5;

“Then one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping. Look! The mighty Lion of Judah’s tribe, the root of David—he has conquered! He is the worthy one who can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Matthew 13:2 Such great crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat there, while the whole crowd stood on the beach.

Nate Johnston (3 July 20): The bottom line is many have felt silenced so far in this new era not empowered, under fire, attacked, and confused about how they can be a voice in the time we live in. Many didn’t expect to leave the wilderness and be met with a world in crisis and chaos but isn’t that the perfect storm for the prophetic voice? Isn’t that the perfect moment and opportunity to be a voice that cuts through the noise?

Yerachmiel Tilles: Chirps of a Bird Prophet

Josh Wilson (in “Incline Your Ear” 5 July 20): What would Jesus do?
He would love first
He would love first
What would Jesus do?
He would love first
He would love first
So we should love first

Wanda Alger (6 July 20): Many sincere believers are looking for peace when they are blind to this war. For those who insist on asking, “What Would Jesus Do?” I would suggest you look at His turning over the money tables (Matt 21:12) and condemning His adversaries (Matt 23). He knew when it was time to make an appeal for mercy and when it was time to confront His enemies. The closer He got to the cross and His life-altering resurrection, the more He challenged those who opposed Him. This Prince of Peace and Lover of all shocked His followers by saying He did not come to bring peace, but a sword (Matt 10:34). He blew the minds of those He came to save for He was fighting a battle they could not see. He knew His assignment and did not bow to political persuasion when it was time to confront hell.

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz (6 July 20): For he built again the high places which Chizkiyahu his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal. II Kings 21:3 (The Israel Bible™)

Josephine Marie Ayers (6 July 20): I am just about to put out my July newsletter I always write . My subject is , ” Its time to war, but it is not what you think. One of my ministrant mandate, actually the primary is to educate the body about what is the Resurrection power and that it resides in them and it needs to be used. Most of the church is CLUELESS!< sadly. Can u imagine the power and not one demon in hell can stand in that presence.

Madeline James (6 July 20): In James 3 it talks about when there is worldly wisdom it breeds disorder, unrest, rebellion, and every evil thing and morally degrading practice (James 3:15-16). When wisdom is released from Heaven it’s pure, unwavering, and carries the fruit of righteousness.

Brat (6 July 20 at 11:16 am): Sometimes the battle swirls around us even when we are not in battle with anyone.  Fruit gets ripped off trees in tornados.  I’m not saying that to be negative, but just to point out that in warfare, sometimes friendly fire can take us out and steal our fruit.  But God will have the last word. By Foursquare’s own admission they see themselves as stepping into the shoes of Ephesus in Rev 2. Maybe they are remembering their first love?  Deliverance?  That CLUE expands the playing field way beyond just our ministries.

Josephine Marie Ayers: Good word

Matthew 13:3 And he told them many things in parables, saying: “Listen! A sower went out to sow.

Nate Johnston (3 July 20): Many years ago I was in a season where I was really struggling to navigate how to be a voice. It seemed that the more I shared what was on my heart I was told that I shouldn’t because I sounded anti-establishment, anti-church, and would only lead people away from God. My struggle was that this was not my heart at all but God had placed a weighty message on my heart that I couldn’t ignore, in fact, the more I fought it the more frustrated I would become.

Brat to Josephine Marie Ayers in FB messenger (6 July 20): I left the conversation to look up your website.  I found flames of fire.org, a deliverance ministry of Foursquare Church.  Every time I entered www.flamesoffire.us, my computer crashed.  I rebooted twice.  Finally, with divine intervention, the Internet came back online.  I wonder what is really going on here. I had just posted my piece “Incline Your Ear” and then my Internet went ape!

Matthew 13:4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell on the path, and the birds came and ate them up.

Yerachmiel Tilles: “Do you know what the bird is saying?” the Baal Shem Tov asked his chasidim. “It is the verse: ‘For these shall the Land be divided.'” (see Num. 26:53)

Nate Johnston (3 July 20): But one Sunday I was in worship sitting at the back of the church feeling frustrated, misunderstood, and muzzled when I had a powerful encounter with the Lord.

Rev. Phil – By Another Road: And, at the very same time, marketplaces are confusing, intimdating places, as well. The rules of negotiation are sometimes cryptic, the languages spoken might not be your own, the crowds can close in, and there is always the chance that you might take a wrong turn and end up lost amid a maze of counterfeit goods and beckoning strangers.[5]

Lana Vawser (5 July 20): The Lord is looking for those who will DAILY position themselves, waiting daily at His gates and beside His doors for WISDOM and to know His ways.[6]

Matthew 13:5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and they sprang up quickly, since they had no depth of soil.

Rev. Phil – By Another Road: The marketplace reveals every option and allows us the freedom to choose. We might also say it places upon us the responsibilty of choosing, because our conduct in the public square is never just about ourselves; it has broad impact.

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz (6 July 20): The venue was impressive: a massive Roman temple complex dedicated to the worship of pagan gods in the second century. Sunday’s concert was held at the Bacchus Temple, which stands in front of six columns that remain from the Temple of Jupiter.

Rev. Phil – By Another Road: In the commerce and connections we foster in the marketplace, we belong to one another; we take our place in the unpredictability and fluidity of life, and who we are and how we are in that space conveys–and ultimately shapes–the kind of world we wish to see prosper. Are we people of curiousity and fairness? Or of suspicion and exploitative self-interest? Do we engage in just and sustainable practices, or is the cheap bargain more alluring to us?

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz (6 July 20): UNESCO has played a leading role in the reappearance of idolatry. The Baalbek temple complex was inscribed in 1984 as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Palmyra was listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1980. UNESCO also funded the reconstruction of pre-Islamic goddess Lion of al-Lat known as the “goddess of adultery” that once stood in Palmyra. UNESCO also funded the reconstruction of a statue of the pagan goddess Athena and presented it at an exhibit “The Spirit in the Stone”, at the United Nations’ headquarters in New York City. The exhibit described Athena as “synonymous with reason, refuge and the rule of law, all of the same values on which that historic institution was built”, but the spear lying at the statue’s feet belied her more common association as the goddess of war.

Madeline James (6 July 20): Wisdom isn’t just having good advice for someone. One of the Hebrew words for wisdom is “chokmah,” meaning “skill in war, wisdom in administration, wit.” Worldly wisdom is cheap and doesn’t require much of you. If you want to build something eternal that will last the test of time, you need Heaven’s wisdom. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Wisdom and revelation will lead you to life and realms of glory.[7]

Sharell Barrera (6 July 20): A couple of weeks ago, I awoke from the most beautiful dream. I was inviting everyone to a wedding celebration – it was a renewing of vows. I was running around inviting everyone. I was calling up all my old friends and I was filled with so much excitement, but in the next moment, some people were telling me that they could not make it. My heart began to sink. I started to become sad and worried that people were going to miss out. Then it was as if the Lord shifted my direction. Then I heard that there is a shift in perspective coming. The Lord is pouring oil upon old mindsets.[8]

Chuck Pierce (6 July 20): We have got to shift our mindset. We have to know things are changing around us, things are rearranged around us, being rearranged around us. There are interjections coming into your life. You know what that means? Exclamation points all of a sudden are gonna show up in your daily life and you’re gonna have to determine how to move with that exclamation point. I say, the announcement of heaven is saying today to us, “Times have changed. Get in the movement that I choose for you.”

Lana Vawser (5 July 20): There is a MIGHTY shaking that is coming to the Church and in the earth that is going to reveal the Lord as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The power and Majesty of the Lord revealed like we have never seen and the wisdom of God exalted in a way that the Church and earth has never experienced before.

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz (6 July 20): Unlike other pagan sites, which were converted into mosques, Baalek has never been used for anything other than Canaanite and Greek/Roman idolatry. Nonetheless, in Islamic mythology, the temple complex was said to have been a palace of Solomon’s which was put together by djinn (demons or genies) and given as a wedding gift to the Queen of Sheba.

Matthew 12:42 The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, and now something greater than Solomon is here.

Wanda Alger (6 July 20): King David was a man of war (1 Chron 28:3). God had appointed him for that very task. Known for his purity of heart and loyalty to the throne, God granted him favor to defeat his enemies in a time of war. It was his son, Solomon, who built the Temple and established the nation in a time of peace. Though both carried the same generational vision in their hearts, their assignments were very different, as were their rules of engagement.

Rev. Phil – By Another Road: In their jumbled offering of both the delightful and the dangerous, markets are a microcosm of our common life—their sights and sounds represent the enticement of the ideas and experiences people exchange with one other, but they also signify the inherent risk of venturing beyond home, the vulnerability of relying on the trustworthiness of strangers, the calculated risk of enmeshing ourselves into a deep system of interdependence–one that extends far beyond simply finding a fair price for honey and housewares.

Matthew 13:6 But when the sun rose, they were scorched; and since they had no root, they withered away.

Yerachmiel Tilles: In the morning, when the families of the bride and groom were standing outside, ready to make the journey home, the Baal Shem Tov was also there, for he too was preparing to leave. While they were waiting for their wagons a little bird chirped away on a tree, right in front of the bride and groom.

Sophia Valentina Buller (5 July 20): The blog post isn’t up yet. Amanda Grace’s guest had Confirmation! America is a covenant nation built up of Israelites, and America and Israel are 1! Thank You Jesus! I now understand why He’s Been Telling me that America is Israel because Israel and America are 1 of the same! Wow! Thank You Jesus for EVERYTHING 🥰🥰🥰 I knew I wasn’t crazy!

Matthew 13:7 Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.

Nate Johnston (3 July 20): It was an awakening for me in many ways because I felt so much fear of man lift off me where it has previously been choking the life out of me. I felt the fear of God at that moment so intensely that I was shaking… a good shaking. Like the Lord was shaking all the fear and words off me that had been chaining me. A few days later I received a message by some people who were previously leaders in my life that didn’t approve of what I was doing and saying asking me to meet them. I instantly knew that I couldn’t meet them because it would only be an ambush. The fear of man I normally would face I didn’t. I said no, wiped the dust from my feet, blessed them, moved on, and the rest is history.

Lana Vawser (5 July 20): I was shocked in this encounter as I saw many with their fingers in their ears and they were walking around saying “I don’t’ want to hear, I don’t want to hear” and I could see that they did not want to hear the instruction of the Lord for many reasons. Some of those reasons being fear, others not wanting to change the ways things have been done, others not wanting to leave places of comfort and sin and the list went on. I watched as the Holy Spirit continued to tap them on the shoulder and draw them, He continued to invite them and almost ‘poke and prod’ them to draw them into life, into His ways and embracing His wisdom, for in HIS WISDOM and WAYS delight and joy was found (Proverbs 8) but no matter how much He drawing these ones, He was speaking, He was woo-ing, there was a refusal to hear, listen or be positioned to listen, and the dullness of hearing and rebellion was increasing.

Yerachmiel Tilles: Decades later, after this couple had lived a good life together and had raised children and grandchildren, the husband decided that come what may, he was going to spend his old age in Eretz Yisrael. Since his wife refused to leave her children, and they could find no way out of their dilemma, they brought their case before a rabbinical court.

Nate Johnston (3 July 20): I believe God is right now awakening your roar and the collective roar of a people called to speak into the darkness, into crisis and chaos, but without the roar, we will see NO REAL CHANGE… the roar of the lion of Judah is both the BREATH of God and the SOUND of God. The breath is the empowerment and anointing of the Spirit and the sound is the weapon that both heals and restores, and breaks through and destroys principalities and powers. That roar is wanting to come through you but it isn’t tame. No, like a lion this roar is wild, or like David said “I will be so much more undignified than this!” He understood the wild nature of the lion of Judah roaring through him that doesn’t respond out of duty but out of worship and because of this it will never be clean and neat according to man’s standards of religious customs/protocols but it will always carry an edge that stands out and “pierces through” the atmosphere you are in. That’s what the sound of the roar through you does. It’s not for show and it’s not for gain, but it is the natural response of those who have been intimate with God that they sound like the one they have been with. And right now that’s where God is calling us to inhabit. Imagine what it would like if the church roared in crisis and adversity, in trial, famine, and calamity instead of responding or reacting to appease the world and watering down the message of the gospel?

Lana Vawser (5 July 20): There has been a major ‘exaltation’ of ‘man’s wisdom’ and ‘man’s ways’ that in the shaking we are in right now, in many ways, we are going to see that ‘exaltation’ of man’s wisdom and ways, in other words ‘PRIDE’, being brought down and this is the time where we are going to see the WISDOM of GOD EXALTED like never before. The Lord is going to powerfully demonstrate who He is and that He is the God that created the whole earth and everything in it.

Yerachmiel Tilles: “So this is what the rebbe meant,” they said in wonderment. “‘Between these shall the Land divide!'”

Matthew 13:8 Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Wanda Alger (6 July 20): Just as Jesus did, we cannot be swayed by man’s opinions or distracted by lesser battles. That which we are fighting for is the faith of our fathers, the inheritance of the saints, and a legacy that will outlast our lifetime. It will be well worth the cost if we but take our stand and face this war together.

Matthew 13:9 Let anyone with ears listen!”

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz (in “Incline Your Ear” 5 July 20): Just because people have been saying it doesn’t mean it isn’t finally true

Yerachmiel Tilles: Word of this incident spread far and wide, until it reached the disciples who had accompanied the Baal Shem Tov to that village inn.

Brat (in “Incline Your Ear” 5 July 20): Isn’t Israel’s job to be a light to the nations, to direct them back to God?  Then the Messiah has already been using y’all to fulfill that. I pray that the Truth of that reality would shake up the nations in a healthy sense.
