Blessing Through His Name

Kathryn Hauser’s Special Reflection for the Feast Day of
Holy Name of Jesus 01 January 2014
Blessing Through His Name
Has our world forgotten that God’s Name is HOLY? Lord Jesus, heal Your Holy Name!
Repeat: Lord Jesus, heal Your Holy Name!
Since we are heirs through God (Gal 4:7), children through the Spirit of His Son in our hearts (v 6) and we have been commissioned by God to have dominion over His works (Ps 8:6), then is it not a sin to just “make do” with what He has given us in order to celebrate creation? Is it not more honorable to seek quality over quantity? We already know the devastation which greed creates when it is left unbridled. Is it not more honorable to engage and see what things have taken place, which the Lord has made known to us? (Lk 2:15) Is it not more honorable to be amazed and to return to God glorifying and praising Him for all we have seen and heard (v 20), rather than just kvetching or navel-gazing? Treasuring and pondering words in our hearts is the first step. (v 19) Then the shepherds returned. (v 20) Repentance and returning are anchored in the Name of the Lord. The spiritual shepherds following in the footsteps of Aaron and his sons (Nu 6:23) are supposed to put God’s name on the people and He will bless them. (v 27) Lord, on behalf of the shepherds, I bless the people with Your Name! May we glorify You, Jesus! “Circumcise” the works of our hands and all that is holy and set apart unto You, where You have dominion over our lives, hearts, hands, thoughts, and mouths, so that You get all the glory for what You have been doing through us.
Bring in reconciliation of the Churches through blessing the Holy Name of Jesus! Bring in the reconciliation of the planet through blessing the Holy Name of Jesus! Bring in the reconciliation of Israel back to God through blessing the Holy Name of Jesus! Lord, You promised!
Ezekiel 38:16 You will advance against My people Israel like a cloud that covers the land. In days to come, Gog, I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I am proved holy [!] through you before their eyes.
Ezekiel 38: 23 And so I will show My greatness and My holiness [!], and I will make Myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’
Ezekiel 39:7 “I will make known My holy Name [!] among My people Israel. I will no longer let My holy Name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the LORD am the Holy One [!] in Israel. 8 It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign LORD. This is the day I have spoken of.
Ezekiel 39:25 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will now restore the fortunes of Jacob and will have compassion on all the people of Israel, and I will be zealous for My holy name [!].
Ezekiel 39:27 When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy [!] through them in the sight of many nations.
Ezekiel 39:29 I will no longer hide My face from them, for I will pour out My Spirit [!] on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD.”
Come, Lord! You are welcome here!

Holy Name of Jesus 01 January 2014 Gospel: Luke 2:15-21
Numbers 6:22-27
6:22 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

6:23 Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the Israelites: You shall say to them,

6:24 The LORD bless you and keep you;

6:25 the LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you;

6:26 the LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

6:27 So they shall put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.

Psalm 8
8:1 O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

8:2 Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.

8:3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;

8:4 what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?

8:5 Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.

8:6 You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet,

8:7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,

8:8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

8:9 O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Galatians 4:4-7
4:4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

4:5 in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children.

4:6 And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

4:7 So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir, through God.

Philippians 2:5-11
2:5 Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,

2:6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited,

2:7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form,

2:8 he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death– even death on a cross.

2:9 Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,

2:10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

2:11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Luke 2:15-21
2:15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.”

2:16 So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger.

2:17 When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child;

2:18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them.

2:19 But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.

2:20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

2:21 After eight days had passed, it was time to circumcise the child; and he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

    Thank you Kathryn! Blessings in this new year. Let me know when you have time to get together. Would you be kind enough to keep in prayer the new focus being put on parents of young people at St Pat’s? We met in Dec and will meet again in January. Pray for anointing. THanks very much. Blessings in the new year to you, too. I will let you know. Thank you for keeping the invitation open. I will keep the young parents in prayer. I will especially pray the Holy Spirit teaches them how to put God first always. I believe this is where the anointing flows from. ~k
