Kathryn Hauser’s Special Reflection for Christmas Day 25 December 2013
Message
The messenger is not greater than the one who is sending the message in the first place. A message comes from the King, not the runner of the king. The runner just delivers the message. (ie Rev 19:10) So here’s the Message:
Zion: “Your God reigns!” (Isa 52:7)
Peace is within you. (v 7)
Good News is here! (v 7)
Salvation is an internal affair! (v 7)
The return of the LORD to Zion is hidden in plain sight. (v 8)
The Holy Spirit has comforted His people and redeemed Jerusalem. (v 9) Do you know that? I mean, really? This is present day, Now Time, not 3,000 years ago when King David established the Jewish state in Jerusalem. The LORD has already bared His holy arm before the eyes of all the nations. (v 10) Now we will see how all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God (v 10), just as He told us would happen.
In these last days, God has spoken to us by Jesus, His Son, through Whom He appointed as heir of all things, and through Whom He also created worlds. (Heb 1:2) Every time there is another division, there is another world. (ie Luke 12:51) Jesus is the reflection of God’s own glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being. (Heb 1:3) Where there is division, He brings reconciliation. He sustains all things by His powerful Word. (v 3) You know about the power of words. That’s no secret message.
Jesus sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on High after He made purification for sin. (Heb 1:3) He wasn’t just some angel or glorified being. He was (and is) much superior to angels. (v 4) His name itself, which carries weight with it, is more excellent than any angel’s name. (v 4)
Al Thomas makes an excellent point:
“In those days, the mother had no say in the naming of the child. That was the father’s call, and Mary knew it. So, when Joseph was having doubts concerning Mary’s pregnancy, he also had a dream. After assuring Joseph that this indeed was from the Holy Spirit, the angel instructed him to “call His name Jesus” (Matthew 1:21).
Think about this. First, Joseph was told to go through the embarrassment of having to marry a woman who was already pregnant. Now, he’s told to give the child a name not of his own choosing or from his own ancestry, but a name foreign to him. Joseph, having already been told to do a hard thing, could have thought, “You know, I’ve done more than I can take. I’m at least going to name this child after me…Joseph.”
Can you imagine if he actually did that? It might sound comical, but can you imagine the “name above every other name” being Joseph? Or casting out demons in the name of Joseph? Sounds absurd, right? But Joseph was obedient in everything God instructed him to do. Dear one, 99% obedience is disobedience. Joseph was a man of obedience and righteousness (see Matthew 1:19).”
A Name that carries weight with it is a name to be obeyed. But this obedience is to the Word made flesh, incarnate God-in-man, not merely blind obedience to a name. Satan worshippers are obedient to his name. Jesus is more than a name. He was begotten not made! Born, not fashioned like some stone, metallic, or electronic idol on the speedway. To which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son and today I have begotten you”? (Heb 1:5) Do angels have birthdays? To which of the angels did God ever say, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”? (v 5) God employed the angels to herald the message of the firstborn of redemption into the world. (v 6) He says, “Let all God’s angels worship Him!” (v 6) Of the angels God says, “He makes His angels winds and His servants flames of fire.” (v 7)
With all the talk in the spiritual circles lately about whirlwinds, fire, wind, and shakings, aren’t these messengers of the Lord simply confirming that God’s angelic host is assisting us in bringing God’s kingdom to earth just as He promised? Look at the daily progression!
Chuck Pierce: Rend the Heavens 17 Dec 13
“I just saw a whirlwind released from the 3rd Heaven – the highest Heaven where God is seated on the Throne. And that whirlwind is totally encircling the 2nd Heaven. I don’t know what’s going on, but during these 10 days something is breaking!”
Kim Clement: Watch Throughout the Earth 19 Dec 13
“Whatever God dictates in Heaven – if there’s a shaking in Heaven – it manifests on the earth. It manifests through the wind and the atmosphere, the earth. The resources that God has promised are being shaken loose.”
John Mark Pool: Fire, Wind, Shaking – It’s Transformation Time! 20 Dec 13
“God is love, so reconciliation and complete transformation are His focus. When Jesus came to earth and completed His earthly assignment in the flesh and Spirit, God kept His Word of completely transforming all that was lost back to relationship with Him. You can be assured that in a world reeling in a backdrop of turmoil, this is the day for Christians to become the means of reconciling the lost and hurting back to the Father’s heart.
…I asked him who he was and he said, “I am a messenger from the throne of the One you love; I am the Angel of Transformation.”
Neville Johnson: Surviving the Storms Ahead, Part 2 on 23 Dec 13
“The revelation of Jesus, who He is and what He is like is part of the message of the book of Revelation. We tend to see the book of Revelation as a book of judgement and destruction; however we need to understand the motivation behind all these judgements.”
Theresa Phillips: Christmastide of Visitation and Change 23 Dec 13
Jesus says: “Many will start to have dreams and desires to go and work with Me. EXCITEMENT in My houses of worship will increase, for the songs of worship will be lifted up in abundant praise. A radical praise is about to come forth. This sound will shake the timbers. The dancers will dance with all their might. New songs with a new sound will come forth. These will have the sound of victory in them!
…Yes, even on Christmas Day I will send out PROMOTIONS to many who have felt discarded. They will begin to see how valuable they are.”
Dear reader, do you see the progressive, daily swirl as each message of each messenger adds more meaning and depth, building on the one before it as God conveys His intentions?
Psalm 104 describes God’s majesty. God has given His kingdom to Jesus, His Son. Of the angels, God says He sends them with messages and as servants (Heb 1:7), but of the Son, God says, “Your throne is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of Your kingdom. (v 8) Healing is in His scepter. Jesus heals us OF the truth WITH the Truth. (Jn 8:32) Ouch! But He does this with righteousness. He loves righteousness and hates wickedness (Heb 1:9), so God anointed Him with the oil of gladness beyond His companions. (v 9) God created and founded the earth and heavens. (v 10) He remains. (v 11) We wear out. (v 11) We change like clothing. (v 12) But Jesus is the same, and His years will never end. (v 12) He rose from the dead. He cannot die again.
Jesus is more than His legacy. He is the Voice and breath of His Word coming alive within us by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Jn 1:12) This doesn’t happen through force, bloodshed, the will of the flesh, or by the will of man, but through God. (v 13) Since God created the universe and the Holy Spirit is everywhere in the universe, and the Holy Spirit reveals Who Jesus is inside of us, and we take on His character as we get to know Him, then we are one with Him making the universal prayer true: “Shema! –Hear!– Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One!”
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen His glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.
Happy Birthday, Jesus! Merry Christmas to man and angels! ~k

Christmas Day Nativity of the Lord Proper III for 25 Dec 13 Gospel: John 1:1-14
Isaiah 52:7-10
52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

52:8 Listen! Your sentinels lift up their voices, together they sing for joy; for in plain sight they see the return of the LORD to Zion.

52:9 Break forth together into singing, you ruins of Jerusalem; for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.

52:10 The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

Psalm 98
98:1 O sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand and his holy arm have gotten him victory.

98:2 The LORD has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.

98:3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.

98:4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.

98:5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody.

98:6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD.

98:7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it.

98:8 Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy

98:9 at the presence of the LORD, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Hebrews 1:1-4, (5-12)
1:1 Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the prophets,

1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he also created the worlds.

1:3 He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

1:4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

1:5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”?

1:6 And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”

1:7 Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire.”

1:8 But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom.

1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”

1:10 And, “In the beginning, Lord, you founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands;

1:11 they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like clothing;

1:12 like a cloak you will roll them up, and like clothing they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will never end.”

John 1:1-14
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1:2 He was in the beginning with God.

1:3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being

1:4 in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.

1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

1:7 He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.

1:8 He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light.

1:9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.

1:10 He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him.

1:11 He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him.

1:12 But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God,

1:13 who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.

1:14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.
